We aim to provide members of CTC with hands-on web development experience, in addition to bridging the knowledge gap between college courses and industry practice! Designers will learn hard skills such as research, wireframing, prototyping in Figma, and usability testing. Developers will get hands on experience with full-stack technologies and version control. CTC also provides a community of passionate, like-minded people that support each other through the learning process & life in general. As a member, you can expect team and club-wide socials, as well as a welcoming community!

We look for passionate, committed UC Irvine students who are interested in bridging technical skills and social good by working on projects for non-profit organizations with other like-minded peers. Ideally, students would be in an ICS or related major, but if not, they are expected to have skills to back themselves up. There are no specific technical requirements, but it definitely helps to have something that demonstrates your initiative to learn and be involved!

Once accepted into Commit the Change, each member fills out a preference form to be matched with a project that they will get to work on for the entire school year.

You should be prepared to commit 8-10 hours a week for the entire school year (October 2025 - June 2026), excluding school breaks and certain periods such as finals week.

A coffee chat is our way to get to know you better and for you to learn more about our organization in a casual setting. In addition to our skills checks, we have coffee chats so that our recruitment team can have an opportunity to get to know you beyond coding or designing and see you as an individual.

A Skill Showcase is not meant to be a technical assessment as a barrier to joining the club. We use a Skill Showcase as a way to help us understand where you are in your technical skills journey and have a more accurate gauge of your experience beyond just “beginner” or “intermediate.”

Don’t worry, there is no required internship or experience-level qualification! Here at Commit the Change, we’re looking for people who aren’t afraid to take initiative, are driven to learn and grow continuously, use failure as an opportunity to learn and do better, and are passionate about creating tech for social good.
